What is a companion?
A "companion" is the name given to all sub-human races that dwell in and around the Runelands.
Like humans, they are intelligent creatures with their own lifestyles and cultures, and they will not tolerate being treated like a pet. Companions know their way around the uninhabited area's of the Runeland, and if you manage to befriend one, they can act as a guide and even help you hunt and capture feral chimera's.

A companion is required to explore specific restricted areas of the Runelands. Companions will not be placed up for regular adoption- if one is seeking companionship it will appear in the agency with conditions.
The easiest way to obtain a Companion is to apply for one, pay tribute to a clan, or convince one to go with you.

Companions have strict breeding/courtship rituals, and cannot be traded through regular trading seasons.

Obtaining a Companion

Tribute:
By paying tribute to a companion clan, you can convince the clan to send one of their members to you.
You can tribute any pet, item and currency from the Runelands. Once your tribute is received, it cannot be returned.
If you leave a low tribute, the companion's colours and markings will be random. If you leave a high tribute, you can suggest colours and markings, but you might not receive exactly what you want.

*Each chimera may only be tributed 3 times. Once a chimera reaches this limit the Safari will not accept it for tributing.

Low Tributes: 5,000 JR value and under
High Tributes: Over 5,000 JR value

Apply for a Companion:
If you want a companion with certain colours and markings you can send an application to a clan and they will try to find a companion that meets your wishes.

Standard Companion:
A companion with 0-3 standard markings.
Price:  8,000 JR | $8 USD | 800

Custom Companion:
A companion with custom designs.
Price:  12,000+ JR | $12+ USD | 1,200+

*Please note, mutations (or other line art edits such as jewelry) will increase the price depending on the complexity.

Chance Meeting
Similar to random and hidden events in the agency, chance meetings commonly appear as comments. Around the group you may spot a comment posted from the staff account with "chance meeting" in it, and a description of what a Companion is doing or where one can be found. Most chance meeting's are not first come, first serve, as the companion is looking for a specific owner. If you meet the requirements, reply to the comment!

Chance meetings also happen in some events, usually 'choose your own adventure' style ones, and if you pick the right way to go you'll run into a Companion.

Seeking Companionship : Conditions:
Every so often, a Companion may be found with this as the title.
Similar to a conditioned chimera, there are restrictions that the Companion has and you must meet them in order to adopt it. Make sure to read the Companions conditions before trying to claim it!

Personalities:
All companions come with pre-determined personalities, unless otherwise arranged.
This is due to the fact that members were giving their companions incredibly short personalities, and most info did not fit the species.

Personalities can be added onto, or re-written, but cannot be completely changed.
EX: If your companion hates snow and Winter is it's least favourite season, you can add onto the personality to explain why. You cannot re-write it so that they like snow and winter.

Companion Species

Kodryma
Clans: Meliai | Caryatids
Huarost : Eastern/Western Village (Arctic Mutation) cannot be tributed/ordered (unless an event states otherwise!) and are only available during events/winter months
Gyra/Noctilusa/Hydria (Cetus Mutation) cannot be tributed/ordered but are available all year round for events

Companion Attributes

Each companion has attributes that show what they are good at. Attributes are also used in breeding ceremonies.
Attributes for companions are similar to abilities for chimera's.

Safari Attributes
Attributes that are useful with exploring, hunting, and dungeon raids
✧ Luck : +25% chance of finding hidden items
✧ Cunning : +25% chance of finding a feral chimera
✧ Presence : +25% chance of capturing a feral chimera
✧ Stamina : Resistant to the elements, will travel anywhere in the Runelands
_{--NOTES: A companion with this attribute can travel to places where one normally would not, ex: an arctic kodryma in the desert}
✧ Aqueous : Capable of exploring under water areas
✧ Agility : Capable of finding hidden passages { dungeon raids }


Breeding Attributes
✧ Charm : +25% chance mate finding and offspring producing { same clans }
✧ Allure : +25% chance mate finding and offspring producing { cross clans }
✧ Enchant : +25% chance mate finding and offspring producing { crossbreeding }


Battle Attributes
✧ Strength : Warrior, will participate in battles { Tournaments / BOSS battles }
✧ Support : Healer, will revive fallen comrades { 25 - 75 % health upon revival }


Alchemy Attributes
✧ Psionic : Gifted in Alchemy, +25% spell success rate
✧ Magi : Gifted in Alchemy, +25% spell success rate
✧ Sage : Gifted in Alchemy, +40% spell success rate

✧ White Mage : Gifted in Alchemy, +45% spell success rate { item crafting only }

Attribute Skill Sets | Work in Progress

Attributes can be 'upgraded' into specific skills. Some skills work better for certain safari area's and events then others.
A companion must already have the attribute before they can upgrade it.
Skill sets can be learned through various events, and some companions will have an easier time learning and obtaining them then others.

✧ Luck > Silver-tongue : +50% chance of convincing a feral companion to join you
✧ Cunning > Lure : +90% chance of finding a feral chimera *chance decreases if surrounded by too many owned chimera's- best used away from other players (Dungeon Raids)
✧ Cunning> Trap Master : +50% chance of finding and capturing a feral chimera
✧ Cunning + Presence > Overkill : Will capture any feral chimera's encountered, so long as the companion is more powerful then the chimera
